How Fashion Impacted Summer Movies

Karla Villeda

The Union - August 16th.

This movie features famous movie actors Mark Wahlberg, wearing a navy blue and black outfit, and Halle Barry, wearing camouflage trousers, black boots, and a burgundy sweater, fitting the stealthy theme of the movie in which they have to act as super spies. This shows how much the clothes of the actors are wearing can change the entire atmosphere of a film.

Trap - August 2nd

This movie features Josh Hartnett, playing Cooper, wearing a tan-yellow-ish sweater over an orange, brown, and olive green knitted shirt. These colors portray emotions ranging from warmth and comfort to anger and hostility, fitting the movie, as in the beginning, Cooper was going to an innocent concert with his daughter but then turned into a demonic disaster.

Deadpool and Wolverine - July 26th

This movie features Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool. They created a new suit that is redder than the original movie, which is much more similar to the comic books. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine outfit also changed from the original movie released in 2013. Now with a brown and yellow suit in contrast to a black and yellow suit, also inspired by the comics.

Despicable Me 4 - July 3rd

Gru has changed his perspective throughout the movies, and this is very noticeable in his outfits. He dresses like a father of four with his khaki pants and salmon pink polo, a brown belt, and white shoes. His newly born son matches his father's original outfit by using a gray and black scarf. Gru's original outfit is an all-black leather jacket and pants, along with his iconic scarf, which he still wears during missions.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die - June 7th

This movie features famous actors Martin Lawrence, playing Marcus, and Will Smith, playing Mike. Marcus is seen wearing a burgundy tracksuit covered in paint, and Mike is in an all-black outfit, completely clean. This shows the diversity between the characteristics of the two protagonists, as Marcus is the more clumsy, dramatic person, while Mike is more down to earth and more focused on the mission. This shows how you can use things like paint splatter to add more personality to your outfits.

Inside Out 2 - June 14th

This movie features many characters, like Disgust is the most indulged in fashion, which is why she wears a detailed flower dress with a green belt and dark green leggings under, a magenta scarf, and shoes. Her green is portraying disgust like broccoli; she has a sassy attitude to her character. Joy wears a green dress and blue hair, which signify the joy that she carries in the green dress, but the blue shows that even a joyful person like herself can also experience sadness. Sadness only wears blue; even her hair is blue, and she has round glasses, which all point to the fact that she is blue, or, in other words, sad. Anger wears a white collar shirt with a red and grey tie, a belt, and burgundy suit pants. He releases fire from his bald head and is red, which shows his aggression. Fear is dressed in a red bow tie with a knitted vest under a lavender shirt and lined out in purple pants. In this illustration, dark purple evokes a frustrated and fearful emotion. Embarrassment is represented by a loose fit with light purple pants and a lavender hoodie. This portrays silence, devotion, and calmness, which he proved when he helped Sadness. These are only a portion of the characters in the movie, but they show that having a variety of colors in your wardrobe really helps set the mood in your outfits.
