Japanese styles range heavily on how much the person wishes to break regular Japanese styles and their standards. In this year's Japanese spring fashion shows, we saw heavy usage of oversized clothing, the use of square silhouettes, odd patterns, and color mixtures, the exploration of typically female silhouettes on men, and the usage of many Japanese subcultures. These different clothing pieces are seen all over different Japanese subcultures and trends.
One of the biggest trends in Japan right now is "Gyaru" fashion. The word gyaru translates to "gal". Gyaru fashion was originally used to rebel against Japanese beauty standards towards women. Gyaru fashion typically consists of tan skin, loud makeup, and what is currently considered "y2k" clothing.

Another major trend is "tech" clothing. Tech clothing is usually inspired by a mix of military gear and futuristic concepts. This genre as a whole is incredibly large because on one side of the spectrum the subculture "E-girl Core" fits the description and on the other side "Cyber Tech" also fits the subgenre of clothing.
