On February 22nd, the Fashion Club took over New York for 5 days and went to places like the Met Museum, the FIT Museum, Mood Fabrics, Grand Bazzar, Korea Town, China Town, SOHO, and the biggest department store in the world, MACYS.
On our first day, we went to the Mood Fabrics store where Project Runway was filmed, Grand Central Station, and Times Square.
On the second day, we went to Chelsea Market, SOHO, China Town, Chelsea Market, Starbucks Reserve, which is one of the few Starbucks in the world, and lastly, The Edge.
On Day 3, we visited the FIT Museum and explored their STATEMENT SLEEVES Collection.
The exhibit describes the importance of a statement sleeve and how it revolutionized the fashion industry.
Later on, we explored the Brooklyn bridge and took in the importunity to take some pictures.
On our fourth day, we visited the Grand Bazaar for some vintage and mom and pop goodies. The Grand Bazaar in NYC has been a bustling marketplace since its inception in the late 19th century, offering a diverse array of goods and experiences to locals and tourists alike. With its rich history and vibrant atmosphere, it remains a cultural landmark and shopping destination in the heart of the city.
We also went to a thrift store called Buffalo Exchange, where our students discovered some great items. Our president bought two pairs of cargo pants, and one of our members, Gio, purchased a black vintage sweater.
Later, we explored SOHO, which housed some of the best stores. Among them were Aritzia, Uniqlo, Nike, Converse, Dior, and Adidas, each offering limited items. Talking to the staff, we learned that SOHO stores feature limited editions not found elsewhere.
Additionally, we toured the Met Museum and viewed the "Women’s Dressing Women Exhibit," which was breathtaking. The exhibit showcased mannequins of various body sizes and shapes, promoting body positivity. Notably, there was even a disabled mannequin, emphasizing that confidence and beauty transcend societal norms.
And for one last day, we decided to shop around in SOHO and Chinatown again.
One of the most impactful stores that we visited was UNIQLO.
Uniqlo is a Japanese casual clothing brand known for its high-quality, affordable basics and innovative fabric technologies. With a global presence, it offers a wide range of stylish and functional clothing for men, women, and children.
