Preppy or Streetwear

What is Preppy style?

The term was born in the early 20th century and applied to wealthy students—mostly coming from old money—who were being groomed for Ivy League education. Even after graduating these alumni continued to wear preppy clothes.

In the 1950s, the preppy style defined the American lifestyle and became synonymous with success.

Today, the preppy style has made quite a comeback and is one of this fall’s biggest trends. Thanks to TikTok trends like “old money” and dark (and light) academia, the school-friendly aesthetic is here to stay, and likely will last for a few more seasons to come.

To create this type of look, stick to classic basics and introduce feminine or sporty elements.

What is Streetwear?

Streetwear is one of the fastest-growing and most powerful areas of the fashion industry. The first streetwear brands emerged in Southern California in the 1980s, when surfers and skaters began selling t-shirts with catchy designs.

It's a casual fashion style that first became popular in the 1990s. It incorporates comfortable yet trendy clothing such as graphic tees, hoodies, sweatpants and expensive sneakers.
