Teacher Appreciation Week

Week 8th - 12th

The origins of Teacher Appreciation Week date back to 1953, when Eleanor Roosevelt persuaded Congress to set aside a day to honor educators. In 1984, the National Parent Teacher Association established the first full week of May as Teacher Appreciation Week to recognize the important role that teachers play in shaping the future of our society.

During Teacher Appreciation Week, schools and communities typically organize special events and activities to recognize and show gratitude to teachers. These may include breakfasts or luncheons, small gifts or tokens of appreciation, or thank-you notes from students, parents, and colleagues.

What to get your Favorite Teacher

Save the basic things and get something thoughtful and needed for your teacher as a teacher's appreciation gift! I went around asking teachers what's something they would like to receive for their week and Mr.Glatzer stated that you can't go wrong with a nice card. Amazon, Target, and Dicks Sporting Goods are great places to get gift cards for your male teachers and staff. Men can be hard to shop for so I personally think you can't go wrong with a gift card, and allow them to buy whatever they'd like with it.

The same thing goes for female teachers and administrators. You can get them Target, amazon, or Ulta beauty gift cards and allow them to buy whatever they want. You can also get them beneficial things such as notebooks and notepads they can keep notes in and write down their to-do lists. You can get them travel drink-ware from anywhere between Walmart to Target.
