St. Patrick's Day is celebrated every year on the 17th of March. This celebration started in 1631 as a holy day in Christianity and to honor St. Patrick. According to Time Magazine St. Patrick was a Patron Saint of Ireland who died around the fifth century but, not much is known of him. What is known of him is that he was born in Roman Britain and was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave at the age of 16. He escaped but later returned to Ireland to convert the Irish to Christianity. People in Ireland have been observing the Roman Catholic feast day of St. Patrick on March 17, since the 9th-10th century.

The first parade ever of St. Patrick’s Day did not take place in Ireland but in America, in a Spanish colony nowadays known as St. Augustine, Florida. St. Patrick’s Day celebrations flourished as the Irish population increased in the United States. Many Irish groups would hold yearly parades and in 1848 various Irish groups in New York united their parades to form an official New York City St. Patrick’s Day parade. According to “History” there are more than 100 St. Patrick’s Day parades held across the United States. https://time.com
